Updated 27 September 2026 · By the Free Consciousness team · Covers August and September 2026

Seasons and monthly events

  • Monthly seasons. The first season, Obsidian Night, opens on 1 October 2026. Each season brings a set of 18 pieces (block styles, wallpapers, music tracks and avatars) and a featured gem, mostly earned through its Season Event, season missions and the weekly tournament.
  • Season missions. Each daily challenge objective you claim now also counts toward the season, with rewards at 25, 50 and 75 missions.
  • The Meteor Shower. On the fourth weekend of each month, meteorites fall onto the board. Collect them by clearing their line, then crack them open to add one of eight meteorite gems to your collection.

The Events page

  • A new Events page in the iOS and Android apps, opening at the Bronze rank (level 6).
  • A daily challenge that rotates between five formats: Blitz, Marathon, Bars Only, Blocks Only and Small Change. One try a day.
  • Six always-on challenges that appear as you climb: Small Change, Trio, Master of [gem], Duo, Solo Gem and Time Trial.
  • Tickets for events: up to five at a time, with a new one every 30 minutes.

Tournament and league

  • A weekly tournament on the home screen. Every ladder level you clear earns stars; each day you are ranked in a pool, and the best move up through five divisions, from Rookie to Elite. It restarts every Monday, with tournament boxes as rewards.
  • The Champion's League takes over once you finish level 200: three-minute runs, fifteen tiers, a season each month, a mystery chest every five runs, and a daily reward table you can check for every place.

Scoring

  • Combos matter more than giant clears. A six-line clear is now worth ×4, while a chain of seven scoring moves in a row reaches ×20.
  • Identical gems hit much harder. Synergy now cubes the size of the largest group of identical gems (×8 for two, ×27 for three), which raised the ceiling of what a single move can score. Level 200 now asks for 100 trillion points.
  • A move's base comes from the gems it clears, rather than from your whole mix.
  • A readable Power number for your gem mix, and a verdict on each level (Comfortable, Tight or Tough level) comparing it with what the level calls for.

The level ladder

  • The ten boss levels now add up your score over 4 scoring moves, instead of asking for one single big move.
  • Forty-five levels ask for a prepared gem mix before you can start, with a Change mix button on the level screen.
  • New rewards on every level, with a bigger milestone reward every ten levels.

Gems and jewel boxes

  • New gem art. A gem's look now changes as it levels up, from rough to polished to faceted.
  • A clearer collection. 34 collectible gems plus a separate Meteorites section, sorting by rarity or power, and locked gems that show the rank that unlocks them.
  • New gem levelling costs. Levels now take more copies and coins as a gem gets stronger, up to 1,000 copies and 50,000 coins for the last level of a common gem.
  • New Uncommon and Exotic boxes. The shop now sells boxes from Common to Exotic, and higher-rarity boxes give clearly more.
  • Choices and bonuses. Opening a box can now let you pick between two gems of the same rarity, and some openings offer a bonus item for an ad or jewels.
  • Drop rates for every box are listed in the shop, and the Wheel of Fortune shows its odds.

Power-ups

  • The power-up line-up is now five: Rewinder, Bomb, Line Eraser, Pop Block and Purifier, one per rarity.
  • Merge two identical power-ups to get the next one up, and choose up to five to take into your games.
  • The Bomb now shows its blast area while you aim, and fires when you release.

Look, sound and comfort

  • A new plum-and-gold look, and a new loading screen with a 3D gem.
  • A new main music track and new sound effects.
  • A free second chance the first time the board fills up in your first three games, and a welcome-back gift of 400 coins and 5 jewels after three days away.
  • Optional reminders in the apps when a box is ready, when tickets are full or when your streak is about to end.
  • Reset progress and Delete account options in the settings.
  • The leaderboard now has tabs for stars, best game and best move, for the world or your country.
  • An Ad privacy options button in the settings, where privacy rules require it.

Fixes

  • The board no longer freezes at the end of a won or lost level.
  • A piece used from the hold slot to finish a level no longer comes back in the next one.
  • Rank badges of players above level 100 now show correctly on the leaderboard.
  • Lighter board rendering during play.

Retired

  • The five animal block collections (cats, dogs, dinosaurs, savanna and butterflies) and their wallpapers and music are resting: they no longer drop, and items you already own keep working.
  • Sixteen power-ups were retired to keep the line-up to five.
  • Cosmetic and Power-up boxes were retired.
  • Android 6 is no longer supported; Gemz now needs Android 7.0 or later.
